The Church of São Miguel de Entre-os-Rios, also known as the Church of São Miguel de Eja, is located in the parish of Eja, in the municipality of Penafiel, in the district of Porto.
Classified as a National Monument since 1927, it is part of the Romanesque Route of Vale do Sousa, standing out for its historical importance.
This temple dates back to the end of the 11th century, although the current structure is the result of renovations carried out in the 14th century, representing a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic styles.
The church has a single nave and a rectangular chancel, with a chancel arch without columns. The portals are simple, but the side portal features a rich decoration with vegetal elements.
The interior is characterized by a sober atmosphere, with a baroque altarpiece that includes the image of Saint Michael the Archangel. The chancel has a coffered ceiling and decorative details that reflect the art of the 18th century.
Historically, the church served as a central point for community life, with religious celebrations that brought together the local population, especially in the 18th century.
