Situated in the Árvore Grossa area, in São Mamede de Infesta and Senhora da Hora, within the municipality of Matosinhos, the Aeronautical Outreach Centre is located in an area with a historical connection to aviation. Senhora da Hora once hosted the first airfield in the Porto district, providing the centre with a pertinent context. The space was established in the former Sobreiro primary school facilities, a building rehabilitated for this new purpose.

An Aeronautical Legacy

The Aeronautical Outreach Centre is a place dedicated to unveiling the world of aviation, preserving its rich history, and promoting aeronautical knowledge. Managed by the Acrobatic Gadget Association, a non-profit entity, this centre was established with the mission of making aviation accessible and intelligible to all age groups, offering a bridge between the past and future of the skies.

The Exhibition Collection

Outside the centre, visitors have the opportunity to observe closely some aircraft examples that are already part of the collection, such as a Blanik glider, a Cessna 4028 aircraft, and an Auster. The outdoor area is enhanced by the presence of a representation of an airstrip, designed with lighting, simulating an airport environment. Inside, the centre displays a vast collection of seventy-six aeromodelling models, which complement the larger-scale aircraft and illustrate the diversity of the aviation universe.

Interactive and Educational Experiences

Beyond the static observation of aircraft, the Aeronautical Outreach Centre invites exploration and interaction. The space includes an exhibition room with various replicas, a workshop where one can glimpse the restoration work of aircraft, and simulators that promise an immersive flight experience. There is also a room dedicated to education, creating an environment conducive to learning and expanding knowledge about aeronautical science and engineering.
