The Parnaso Building is located in the parish of Cedofeita, one of the most central and dynamic areas of the city of Porto.
This building is considered one of the most relevant examples of modern architecture in the city of Porto, being recognized by experts and frequently cited in publications on the subject.
The name "Parnaso" comes from an old music school, the Escola de Música Parnaso (Parnaso Music School), which operated on the ground floor of the building.
The building was designed by the architect José Carlos Loureiro, an important name in Portuguese architecture of the 20th century.
Construction began in 1954 and was completed in 1956, a result of an initiative by Fernando Corrêa de Oliveira, a composer who was also the owner of the space.
In addition to housing, the building includes areas for commerce and services, which makes it not only an architectural but also a functional reference in the city.
