Location

In Porto, in Cedofeita, between Rua da Boavista and Travessa das Águas Férreas, near the Lapa metro station.

Architecture

Designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, this complex is marked by simplicity, with geometric lines and four-story blocks, creating a harmonious environment with the city.

Historical context

Part of the SAAL project, launched after the 1974 Revolution, to create affordable housing. The neighborhood resulted from a collaborative effort between residents and architects.

Social importance

Residents actively participated in the process, which strengthened the connection to the space and the community.

Design

The complex includes duplex apartments with patios and green areas, as well as common spaces and an underground park.

Rehabilitation

After years of being unfinished, the project was completed in 2006, with new buildings and the renovation of the original blocks.
