The avenue is marked by residential buildings constructed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, featuring a neoclassical style, typical of the era.
The houses have facades with a symmetrical composition, highlighted by granite frames on the windows and by parapets on the top of the walls, which give a sense of elegance.
Originally, many of these houses had private gardens in the back, some with lakes, iron and glass greenhouses, and exotic plants, such as camellias.
The interiors of the buildings are known for the richness of the finishes, such as ceilings worked in stucco with decorative details and naturalistic paintings, as well as the use of decorative tiles in some areas.
The buildings were constructed with exterior walls in plastered granite, while the facades were sometimes covered with tiles. Inside, the floors were made of wood or marble, with ceilings in painted stucco.
These buildings are classified as Property of Public Interest, due to their historical and architectural relevance, guaranteeing their preservation.
The avenue is part of a neighborhood marked by residential buildings from the 19th century. It is located in a central area of the city, close to other buildings of interest, such as the Porto Municipal Public Library.
