Situated on a hill in Alpendorada e Matos, in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, overlooking the Douro River and the Tâmega River.
Ancient fortified settlement with origins in Proto-history, later occupied by the Romans and in the Middle Ages.
The site has three lines of walls, some still visible, and remains of ancient circular and rectangular buildings.
Roman artifacts, such as ceramics and coins, have been found, as well as a necropolis with tombs.
The site can be reached by ancient paths, from the EN 210, with pavements that may date back to Roman times.
National Monument since 1910.
The area is isolated, with little vegetation, allowing a good view of the remains and the surrounding landscapes.
