Category: Religious Architecture > Church
District: Porto > Penafiel > Abragão
Located in the parish of Abragão, municipality of Penafiel.
Classified as a National Monument since 1977.
The church is part of the Romanesque Route of Vale do Sousa, a route that highlights the historical heritage of this region.
During works in the Abragão Civic Center area, Romanesque architectural elements were found, integrated into the support building of the Parish Council, which previously functioned as a blacksmith's workshop. These pieces belonged to the original church.
The current church was rebuilt in the second half of the 17th century, but still retains several pieces of its old Romanesque structure.
It is a point of great interest for those who want to explore the religious and cultural heritage of the region.
In addition to its historical value, its inclusion in the Romanesque Route highlights it as an example of Romanesque architecture in the region.
