The sculpture "A Linha Do Mar" (The Sea Line) is located in Leça da Palmeira, a coastal area in the municipality of Matosinhos. It is positioned on the waterfront, an area designed by architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, and can be found in the vicinity of the Boa Nova Lighthouse. Its privileged location offers a direct and open framing of the Atlantic Ocean.
This work of art, created by the renowned Portuguese visual artist Pedro Cabrita Reis, is composed of five groups of iron beams. The structures, painted white, extend over a length of 40 meters. Each group is formed by beams of different heights, arranged vertically on a horizontal base, creating a distinct visual rhythm in the coastal landscape.
"A Linha Do Mar" invites visitors to observe the maritime horizon from a renewed perspective. Through its form and the geometry of the beams, the sculpture establishes a dialogue with the ocean, offering multiple interpretations. It is also a space designed for people to sit, enjoy the environment, and feel the proximity to the sea, becoming a point of contemplation and social gathering by the coast.
