São Julião Waterfall is located in the municipality of Portalegre, integrated into the Reguengo and São Julião area. It is found near the small village of Monte Sete.
This natural spot is located within the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, in a valley where the Xévora river flows. The surrounding environment is distinctly rural and natural, with landscapes that reflect the serenity of this Alentejo mountain range.
When visiting the waterfall, one discovers a secluded natural setting. The valley where the Xévora river flows is dense with vegetation, creating a sense of isolation and tranquility.
The sounds of water and nature dominate the site, providing an immersive experience in an environment where human presence seems distant. The green colors of the flora contrast with the tones of the rocks, composing a serene picture.
The waterfall itself is the central element of the site. The water of the Xévora river plunges down a rocky slope, forming a remarkable drop that stands out in the landscape.
The force of the water creates white foam that stands out among the dark rocks and surrounding vegetation. It is possible to approach the base of the fall to observe the movement of the water up close. A higher observation point, next to a schist wall, offers a different and more comprehensive perspective of the waterfall and its height.
At the base of São Julião Waterfall, a small area where water accumulates is formed. This spot invites a pause by the water.
Although the area is not extensive for swimming, it allows visitors to wet their feet and cool off in the river waters. It is a simple spot to feel the freshness of the waterfall and the natural environment that surrounds it.
