Located in the historic center of Castelo de Vide, in the Jewish Quarter (Judiaria), next to Largo Dr. José Frederico Laranjo.
Built in the 16th century, during the reign of King John III, the fountain is classified as a "Property of Public Interest" since 1953, being one of the most emblematic symbols of the town.
The fountain has a quadrangular structure, with a porch supported by marble columns and a pyramidal roof. In the center, there are four spouts, and the tank is decorated with the coats of arms of Portugal and the municipality.
The water from the Vila Fountain is fresh and clear, and is considered to be of mineral-medicinal quality. Perfect for cooling off during hot days, many visitors take the opportunity to drink or fill jugs.
The fountain is integrated into the Judiaria, a neighborhood of great historical and cultural value. The narrow streets and medieval doors invite a leisurely walk to the castle.
The fountain is in a good state of preservation, being clean and well maintained. It is a pleasant place, which conveys tranquility and offers a refreshing atmosphere.
For those visiting Castelo de Vide, the Vila Fountain is an essential stop, not only for its architectural beauty, but also for its connection to the history of the town and the Jewish community that lived here.
