The Anta do Peral I is located approximately 500 meters west of Monte do Peral, in the parish of Santo Aleixo, municipality of Monforte, next to the left bank of the Ribeira do Almuro.
This is a damaged megalithic dolmen, with four vertical stones (pillars) still visible, which form its burial chamber. There are no traces of a corridor, and some traces of the tumulus (mound of earth that covered it) remain.
This monument is a testament to the human presence in Prehistory in the Monforte region, being a tomb used by ancient communities for funerary rituals.
Despite being partially in ruins, the Anta do Peral I maintains its heritage and historical value. Its preservation is important, as it is part of a larger set of megalithic tombs in the area.
The Anta do Peral I has been classified as a Site of Public Interest, which guarantees protection and enhancement measures to preserve its cultural and historical significance.
A protection area has been established around the monument to ensure its safeguard and that of the surrounding environment.
