The Pillory of Marvão was erected in the 16th century, after the granting of a new charter.
Located in the square that bears its name, in front of the jail and the Clock Tower.
It has an octagonal pedestal with four steps and a shaft with five drums, some faces are smooth and others are decorated.
Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1933, it symbolizes the history and judicial power of the village.
The monument was restored in 1940, maintaining the original shaft.
Marvão was reconquered in 1166 and received its first charter in 1226, reflecting its historical importance.
