The Margalha Museum, located at Quinta da Margalha, presents a unique collection of animal-drawn carriages. The collection began with Valentina de Andrade Pequito Rebelo and was continued by José Hipólito Raposo.
As it is a private property, it is necessary to book a visit in advance. The collection includes 38 examples of animal-drawn carriages, some of which are rarities.
The collection includes various types of carriages, such as a military ambulance from the early 20th century, a Landau originating from Germany, a Break Wagonette used for field service, and even an Omnibus built in the 19th century.
In addition to the carriages, the museum displays harnesses, porcelain sets from India, and other materials associated with animal-drawn carriages.
