It is located in Monforte, in the district of Portalegre, Alto Alentejo. This bridge is situated in a quiet area of the parish of Monforte.
Although it is called the "Roman Bridge", there is no concrete confirmation that its origin dates back to Roman times. However, it is an ancient structure of great historical value.
It has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1990, due to its cultural and architectural relevance.
The bridge is composed of seven arches, with an interesting detail: the height and width of the arches are unequal, being larger in the center and decreasing at the ends. This variation offers a unique image to the visitor.
The bridge deck has a trestle-shaped profile (slightly curved), with side rails that protect those who pass by.
