This location is set in a tranquil, typically Alentejo environment, surrounded by a landscape dominated by olive groves and cork oak forests (montados), inviting visitors to discover the region's agricultural traditions.

Memory of Olive Oil

This Oil Mill Museum is a space dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of ancestral knowledge related to olive groves and olive oil production. Inside, it is possible to discover the evolution of "green gold" extraction techniques, from the oldest methods to the machinery that operated in the mill. Visitors have the opportunity to observe equipment dating back to 1953, testaments to the traditional olive oil making process that marked the life and economy of this area.

At the António Picado Nunes Oil Mill Museum, the central narrative focuses on the integral olive oil production process. The complete journey is presented, from the cultivation of olive trees, the harvesting of the fruits, and their transportation to the mill, to the final stage of transforming olives into olive oil, using the presses and millstones characteristic of an old oil mill. This is an invitation to understand the cultural heritage and the importance that olive oil has always held in the identity and subsistence of the local community.
