Fronteira River Beach is located in the northern part of the village of Fronteira, extending along the banks of the Ribeira Grande stream.
This bathing area is set within a tranquil natural environment, reflecting the serenity of the Alentejo landscape, and offering a place for leisure and contact with nature close to the village's urban centre.
One of the most striking features of Fronteira River Beach is the old granite bridge that stands over the Ribeira Grande stream. Composed of ten semicircular arches, this stone structure is believed to be of possible Roman origin, which lends a unique historical and cultural value to the site.
The bridge not only serves as a crossing point, but also complements the aesthetic of the fluvial environment, bearing witness to the passage of time in the region.
The Fronteira River Beach area underwent requalification, being adapted to enable bathing activities. In addition to the possibility of swimming in the stream, the site invites the practice of various outdoor activities, such as canoeing, climbing, swimming, and rappelling.
For those who enjoy exploring on foot, the surrounding area offers marked walking trails with different levels of difficulty, such as the Ribeira Grande Route and the Serra das Penas Route, which allow visitors to discover the natural nooks of the area. It is important to note that the presence of pets is not allowed in this bathing area.
