Located over the Ribeira de Seda, near the village of Crato, in the municipality of Crato.
The bridge originates in the 3rd century, with traces of access dating back to Roman times. However, it was rebuilt during the Middle Ages, which is reflected in its structure.
Composed of seven arches, the bridge stands out for its triangular-shaped cutwaters made of stone. The irregular masonry on the deck and the sections indicate that it has undergone significant changes over time.
It is an example of ancient architecture, being a historic bridge with strong cultural value in the region.
Despite sometimes being confused with other Roman bridges in the region, such as the Vila Formosa Bridge, the Monte do Prado Bridge is distinct in terms of location and characteristics.
The location where the bridge is located offers a very beautiful natural landscape, making it ideal for a quiet visit and an opportunity to explore the rural beauty of the region.
Although it is a small bridge, a visit is recommended due to the tranquility of the place and the historical value that surrounds it.
