Located in the parish of São Julião, in the municipality of Portalegre, this waterfall is nestled in a deep valley, an integral part of the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park. Its position in the landscape gives it a somewhat secluded character, enveloped by the region's nature.
The waters of the Xévora river break through the rocky slope, creating an abrupt drop that constitutes the central element of the site. The white foam stands out against the dark schist of the rocks, framed by the intense green of the dense vegetation that characterizes the valley. The force of the water over time has sculpted its path through the trees.
The natural environment around the waterfall is predominant, with the watercourse flowing hidden among the vegetation. The sound of the water and the quietness of the valley create a tranquil atmosphere, where human presence feels minimal. It maintains a good flow for much of the year, enhancing its natural beauty.
Reaching the waterfall involves a walk, which leads the visitor through the natural landscape to the base of the waterfall. At the base, a small pool forms where it is possible to cool one's feet or feel the proximity of the water. The dense vegetation sometimes obscures the full view of the waterfall, inviting a closer approach.
There is also the possibility of observing the waterfall from a different perspective, from a higher point on the slope. This elevated view allows for an appreciation of the entire waterfall and its integration into the valley, offering a broader perception of the site's scale.
