It was built in 1759 on the initiative of the local population and authorized by the Cardinal-Patriarch of Lisbon, D. Francisco I. It opened for worship in August 1760.
Initially a small hermitage, it became one of the most important places of worship in the region. It was the first church in Amadora and served as the parish seat until 1958.
With the growth of Amadora, a new church was inaugurated in 1958, leading to the closure of the chapel, which ended up being used as a warehouse. Later, it was restored and regained religious importance.
Small and simple, it has a single altar where the image of Our Lady of the Conception of Lapa is located.
In 1997, it underwent restoration work to preserve its historical and religious value.
