The São Mateus Auditorium represents a remarkable transformation of a space that was once the Cine São Mateus, a building that fell into disuse after its closure. The rehabilitation of this venue by the Elvas Municipal Council allowed it to be reborn as a modern cultural hub. This recovery process provided Elvas with contemporary facilities, suitable for hosting a wide range of events, and demonstrated a commitment to preserving and nurturing the local cultural life. Within the same complex, and sharing the building, a Municipal Photography Museum was also created, further enriching the offerings of this space.
