Located in the eastern zone of Lisbon, the Cable Car crosses Parque das Nações, an area that was once industrial land and has transformed into a contemporary, riverside space. Its location allows for an aerial connection between the extremities of the park, offering a wide view over the Tagus River estuary and the modern urban landscape that surrounds it.
The route extends along the riverbank, providing a unique perspective of this part of the city, marked by urban revitalization and proximity to the water.
The experience on the Cable Car allows visitors to rise to about thirty meters in height, enjoying a distinct panorama of Lisbon. The cabins, suspended by cables, offer a privileged observation point over the vast Tagus estuary and the imposing Vasco da Gama Bridge, which stands in the distance.
During the crossing, it is possible to admire the unique architecture that defines Parque das Nações, including buildings that stand out for their modernity and bold design, elements that compose the visual landscape of this area of the Portuguese capital.
With a route of approximately 1230 meters, the Cable Car provides a smooth and tranquil ride, ideal for contemplating the serenity of the Tagus River from a new perspective. Each cabin has a capacity for up to eight passengers, allowing for a comfortable and scenic journey.
The route connects two points of Parque das Nações, forming an arc over the riverside front and allowing for a comprehensive observation of the park's extent, its green areas, and the river's dynamics. The duration of the trip, about eight to twelve minutes in each direction, is sufficient for an immersion in the landscape.
Inaugurated in March 1998, the Cable Car was conceived as one of the central elements of the International Exposition of Lisbon, known as Expo '98. Its creation aimed to offer exhibition visitors an innovative way to appreciate the venue, as well as a global view of the transformation of that area of the city.
Since then, the Cable Car has remained a symbol of the revitalization of Parque das Nações and its opening to the river. It represents the vision of modernity and Lisbon's integration with the Tagus, aspects that were celebrated during Expo '98 and continue to define this part of the city.
