The Carnide Theatre is located in the parish of the same name, an area with predominantly urban characteristics in the city of Lisbon. A Centenary Legacy

The Carnide Theatre has a rich and long history, dating back to the founding of the Sociedade Dramática de Carnide in 1913. This institution is recognized as one of the oldest amateur theater groups in Portugal, which underscores its importance in the country's cultural landscape. Over the decades, and particularly from the 1950s onwards with the merger that gave rise to the current Carnide Theatre, the space gained notoriety, greatly boosted by the work of directors such as Bento Martins, who brought works by classical and national authors to this stage.

Currently, the Carnide Theatre maintains a spirit of innovation and connection to the community. Its programming reflects a commitment to artistic research and experimentation, exploring new approaches to writing and scenic forms. This commitment to contemporary creation coexists with a strong community aspect, with the theatre being one of the pillars of the organization of the Marcha de Carnide. Since 1966, this multidisciplinary artistic project has united the community annually, showing the vitality and role of the Carnide Theatre in the cultural dynamism of the parish.
