Located in the Graça urbanization, in Lisbon, the Jardim da Cerca da Graça is a remarkable green space integrated into the capital's urban dynamic. This place offers a harmonious transition between the historic neighborhoods of Graça and Mouraria. Its elevated position on the slopes of Calçada do Monte gives it a tranquil atmosphere, ideal for moments of pause and contemplation, with easy pedestrian access from the surrounding areas.

The garden stands on the former enclosure of the Graça Convent, a feature that gives it a particular historical context, merging the city's past with its present. From various points, it is possible to glimpse an impressive panorama over the Lisbon rooftops and the imposing silhouette of São Jorge Castle.

A New Green Chapter:

After centuries of restricted access, the Jardim da Cerca da Graça was reopened to the public in 2015, marking a new chapter in Lisbon's urban landscape. With approximately 1.7 hectares, this green space became the largest of its kind in the city's historic area. Its redevelopment aimed to return a large green lung to Lisbon residents and visitors, where nature and leisure meet.

The recovery project included the planting of approximately one hundred and eighty trees and shrubs, contributing to botanical diversity and the creation of shaded areas. The garden invites a relaxing experience, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural environment in both sunny and shady areas.

Viewpoints and Outdoor Leisure:

One of the great attractions of the Jardim da Cerca da Graça are its multiple viewpoints, carefully integrated into the terrain. From each of them, the landscape unfolds, revealing captivating views of the city. The gaze can sweep across the old neighborhoods, the winding streets and, in particular, the majestic presence of São Jorge Castle, which stands out on the horizon.

For leisure, the garden features a large central lawn, perfect for laying out a towel and enjoying a picnic. For those who prefer the convenience of a table, there is a specific area for snacks. The space also includes an orchard, which offers a touch of rurality in the heart of the city, and a children's playground, designed for younger visitors, where they can play and expend energy outdoors.

A Space for Socializing:

In addition to its scenic beauty and leisure infrastructure, the Jardim da Cerca da Graça has established itself as a meeting and socializing point. Over time, the space has hosted various activities that promote well-being and sharing, such as outdoor yoga sessions and gardening workshops.
