Burros do Magoito are located in Arneiro dos Marinheiros, a small village in the municipality of Sintra. This place is set within the stunning Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, a unique geographical setting where the mountains meet the sea. Its position offers the particularity of being close to Magoito beach, while maintaining accessible links to Sintra's Historic Centre.
This space is a pedagogical farm dedicated to providing its visitors with a genuine and close contact with animal life and nature. Here, the experience is focused on the rural world and its traditions, allowing for immersion in an environment that values simplicity and direct interaction with animals.
One of the most relevant aspects of Burros do Magoito is their active role in the conservation of an endangered species. Donkeys are, unfortunately, animals whose population has been decreasing in Portugal and globally. The existence of this protected space is fundamental for their well-being, contributing to raising visitors' awareness about the importance of respecting animal life and defending the natural environment.
In addition to the donkeys, visitors have the opportunity to observe and interact with a variety of other farm animals, such as ponies, rabbits, goats, sheep, and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. The activities are designed to be carried out outdoors, promoting physical exercise and direct contact with the environment. They include experiences such as brushing donkeys and ponies, feeding some animals, and enjoying carriage rides. These experiences aim to highlight rural customs and strengthen family bonds.
To ensure that the visit is always pleasant, the venue is equipped to receive its visitors even on rainy or bad weather days. It has covered areas and protected spaces that allow activities to continue and social interaction, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience regardless of weather conditions.
