The creation of this public space contributed to the revitalization of the area, transforming a site previously occupied by ruins into a wellness zone. The project simultaneously allowed for the widening of a local road and the construction of a pavement with Portuguese cobblestone (calçada portuguesa), improving fluidity and safety for those moving through the area.

Conceived as a meeting and resting point, Jardim das Pedras offers a tranquil environment for its visitors. It is a place where people can sit and enjoy moments of rest, contributing to everyone's comfort.

Design and Origin

The name "Jardim das Pedras" reflects a peculiarity of the region, where the presence of stones is a striking characteristic of the local landscape. Its aesthetic integrates traditional elements, such as Portuguese cobblestone (calçada portuguesa), which gives the space a distinctive touch.

A curious aspect of its construction lies in the reuse of the very stones resulting from the demolition of the old structure that once stood there. These were repurposed in the garden's revitalization, giving it a sense of continuity and connection to its material past.

This public garden carries a special significance for the community of São Bartolomeu dos Galegos. Its conception dates back to a period before its inauguration, having been a project envisioned by Salvador Leonardo Ferreira, a former local leader.
