Founded in 1894, it is one of the oldest tobacconists in Lisbon, designed by Rosendo Carvalheira. The store is a historical landmark in Lisbon's Baixa district.
The interior maintains its original 19th-century decor, with exotic wood furniture and details in various styles. It stands out for its tiles by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, with caricatured illustrations of frogs and storks.
The ceiling features a fresco by António Ramalho, and there are bronze sculptures by Pedro dos Reis. A curious object is a cigar cutter that also functions as a lamp.
The store was frequented by notable figures such as Eça de Queirós and still maintains its traditional charm. In addition to tobacco-related items, it sells souvenirs and books.
