Quinta dos Lilases is located in the Cruz Vermelha neighborhood, an area of Lumiar, in the city of Lisbon. This location offers a setting that combines the tranquility of a residential area with proximity to the urban life of the capital. The space presents itself as a refuge of serenity within the city’s fabric, allowing for a break from the urban pace.
At the heart of the Quinta stands an imposing palace, a notable example of Modernist architecture. Designed by the renowned architect Cassiano Branco, the project began in 1947 and its construction was completed in 1952. This building represents a landmark in the region's architectural heritage, displaying lines and volumes characteristic of the aesthetic of the time, which continue to capture the gaze of those who observe it.
Quinta dos Lilases reveals its rich history as a property once dedicated to leisure and agricultural production. In the early 20th century, around 1902, the space was equipped with various infrastructures, typical of an estate with these characteristics. There were coach houses and stables, areas for poultry and livestock, barns, a greenhouse, and several ponds. The presence of vegetable gardens and a vast wooded area, resembling a forest, complemented the environment, creating a scene of functionality and natural beauty. These elements, even if some have been transformed over time, still allow us to imagine their original grandeur and their role in the rural landscape of that era.
