Queijas Urban Park is located in the town of Queijas, in the municipality of Oeiras, integrated into the CHEUNI neighborhood urbanization. It is discreetly situated in a residential area, near Ruas de São João Bosco and São Romão, giving it a peaceful and accessible location within the community.
With an approximate area of 12,000 square meters, this park stands out for its infrastructure dedicated to physical activity. The heart of the space is an open-air multi-sport court, with generous dimensions (23 by 44 meters), suitable for practicing various modalities such as handball, futsal, basketball, and mini-basketball. Designed for functionality, the court features floor markings, lighting, and metallic protection nets around the entire perimeter, including ball-stop nets at the ends, ensuring the safety of users. For the rest of spectators or participants, there is a continuous concrete bench. Adjacent to this court, there is a seating area, ideal for a break after sports practice.
Queijas Urban Park embraces nature in a way adapted to the local climate. The green areas, which serve a protective and framing function, are composed of vegetation that values sustainability. Olive trees already present on site were carefully preserved and, when necessary, transplanted to new areas, keeping alive the arboreal memory of the land. The flora was enriched with other species of rustic trees and shrubs, chosen for their adaptability to dryland maintenance. Much of the ground is covered with dryland meadow, an option that allows the space to be used for calmer recreational moments, especially in the area east of the sports court.
The design of Queijas Urban Park considered the well-being and convenience of its visitors. There are pedestrian paths that invite relaxing strolls, complemented by several seating areas. These resting spots are equipped with garden benches and sets of tables and benches, ideal for a picnic or outdoor reading. For everyone's convenience, the park provides waste bins and drinking fountains, and safety lighting ensures the space is welcoming even after dark. For those arriving by car, parking is also available in the vicinity.
