Matadouro Beach is located in Ericeira, a fishing village in the municipality of Mafra, Lisbon region. It is situated in the Abadia area, positioned on Portugal's Atlantic coast. This beach is easily identifiable by its proximity to National Road 247, which runs alongside part of the coastline.
It is characterized by an expanse of sand in its central part, flanked by rock formations to the north and south. In the middle of the beach, the Fonte Boa Stream flows into the ocean, contributing to the natural dynamics of the place. During low tide, a particular phenomenon occurs: a natural pool forms in one of the large rocky slabs, creating a more sheltered and tranquil body of water for visitors.
The waters of Matadouro Beach are regularly monitored, attesting to their good quality for swimming. The beach has been distinguished over the years with various accolades that highlight not only the excellence of its water but also its environmental characteristics and the absence of pollution.
