Praia do Cavalo is located in the area of Praia da Adraga, in the locality of Casa da Adraga, municipality of Sintra. It is situated in a coastal area where the landscape is dominated by imposing cliffs and rock formations, within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. Its secluded position, away from more common routes, lends it an environment of great privacy and a naturally rugged character.
It stands out for its condition as a wild and untouched beach. The sandy area, generally narrow, is embraced by cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic, creating a scene of rustic beauty. Difficulty of access is one of its most striking features; the path leading to the beach is quite steep and, in some sections, considered challenging and dangerous. This particularity contributes to the preservation of its pristine environment and to an experience of deep contact with the raw nature of the Sintra coast.
Although direct access to the sandy area is complicated, Praia do Cavalo offers truly remarkable views from the pedestrian paths that run along the top of the surrounding cliffs. These elevated points provide wide panoramas of the coastline, where the intense blue of the ocean contrasts with the colors of the rocks and the foam of the waves. Observing the beach from a higher position allows one to appreciate its particular geography and the immensity of Sintra's coastal landscape.
