São Bruno Beach is located in the municipality of Oeiras, a coastal location in the Lisbon region, bathed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Specifically, this beach is part of the Alto do Lagoal urbanization, in the locality of Lagoal. Its position is quite particular, being situated in front of Caxias railway station, which makes it one of the closest coastal sands to the Portuguese capital.
São Bruno Beach stands out for its composition, featuring two sandy areas, though not very extensive, which open up to the sea. These two stretches of sand are separated by a striking architectural element that dominates the landscape. On its western limit, the beach is flanked by the Barcarena Stream, also known as the Ossos Stream, whose estuary is accompanied by a pier that contributes to the tranquility of the waters at this point. On the sand, particularly in the eastern area near the fort, it is possible to observe some rock formations, which add a natural touch to the landscape. It is important to note that, as is common on the Portuguese Atlantic coast, the sea water temperature can be cool.
One of the most emblematic elements of São Bruno Beach is, without a doubt, the Fort of São Bruno. This small fortress, built in the 17th century, not only lends its name to the beach but also physically divides it, marking its identity. Its presence is a constant on the horizon, adding a historical character and a particular aesthetic to the coastal scenery. The fort constitutes a visual reference point and a link to the past of the Portuguese coast's defense.
