Located in São João do Estoril, in the municipality of Cascais, Poça Beach stretches along the coastal promenade. It is nestled between rock formations and is flanked to the east by the historic Fort of São Teodósio da Cadaveira and, to the west, by the Forte Velho (Old Fort). This position gives it a unique integration into the area's urban environment, being part of a pedestrian path that runs along the coast.
Poça Beach's sandy area is of a sandy type, characterized by a gentle slope towards the sea. Its waters are usually calm, although the presence of submerged rocks and rock formations, especially in the western part, is noticeable. At low tide, these rocks give rise to small natural pools that invite exploration. A central ramp facilitates access to the sand, subtly dividing the beach area.
The setting of Poça Beach is enriched by elements with history. In its vicinity, structures such as the Fort of São Teodósio da Cadaveira, a 17th-century fortification built for coastal defense, and the Forte Velho (Old Fort) stand tall. Above the beach, imposing mansions are also observed, testaments to the summer architecture that characterized the area. Interestingly, this place was once home to the old Poça Thermal Baths, and the Cadaveira stream flowed into the sea here.
Poça Beach offers an inviting atmosphere, especially sought after by families during the bathing season. Safety is ensured by the presence of lifeguards, providing peace of mind to bathers. Although its waters are generally calm, the beach also attracts surfers on days when sea conditions are more challenging. Its location also allows for pleasant walks along the coast via the pedestrian zone, offering broad perspectives of the coastline.
