Giribita Beach is located in Caxias, in the municipality of Oeiras, within the urban area of Quinta da Terrugem. This small coastal stretch overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, marking the Portuguese coastal landscape. Its position is unique, being adjacent to a marginal road, which makes it an easily recognizable landmark in the area.
This beach stands out for its narrow stretch of sand. It is important to note that as the tide rises, the sandy area tends to become almost completely submerged by seawater, significantly altering its configuration. In the eastern part of the beach, rock formations are observed, present both in the dry area and in the water, contributing to the environment's diversity. Along its entire length, adjacent to the road, there is also an accumulation of pebbles accompanying the sandy area.
An element that defines the landscape of Giribita Beach is the presence of the Fort of Nossa Senhora de Porto Salvo, also known as Giribita Fort. This historic defensive structure is located at the eastern end of the beach. Its silhouette complements the natural scenery and offers a striking visual reference point, connecting local history with coastal beauty.
