Praia da Duquesa is located in the heart of the village of Cascais, in a central position. Its surroundings allow for direct and easy access, notably from the maritime promenade that follows the coast.
This beach is flanked by two notable 19th-century buildings, the Chalet Palmela to the east and the Chalet Faial to the west, which contribute to its distinctive and historically rich landscape.
The name Praia da Duquesa evokes the aristocratic history of Cascais and its past as a summer destination for royalty and nobility. It owes its designation to the Palacete dos Duques de Palmela, an imposing summer residence of the family, situated in its vicinity.
This historical legacy is visible in its surroundings, marked by the architecture of 19th-century chalets that frame the sand, giving the place a unique atmosphere that recalls the elegance of the Portuguese nobility's seaside holidays.
With its generally calm and transparent waters, Praia da Duquesa is an inviting place to enjoy the sea. The beach is predominantly sandy, although some rocky formations can be found at the extremities or in the water.
The tranquility of the waters makes it suitable for swimming and various water activities, such as diving or stand-up paddleboarding. During the bathing season, the beach is supervised and has a first-aid post, ensuring the safety of visitors.
