Located on the riverside of Santa Iria de Azoia, in the municipality of Loures, the BP Pontoon is integrated into a pedestrian and cycling route. Its position offers direct access to the Tagus estuary, revealing a unique perspective on the river landscape.

Requalification and River Access

This pontoon, once a disused and degraded structure, has been fully restored. Its requalification is part of the initial phase of the Tagus Riverside Project, an effort to return the riverbank to the population. The intervention transformed a previously inaccessible point into an inviting place for reconnection with the river.

Landscape and Avifauna Observation

The BP Pontoon provides a natural viewpoint over the Tagus estuary, ideal for the observation of the surrounding landscape and the local avifauna. From this point, it is possible to appreciate the vastness of the waters and the dynamics of the riverside ecosystem, a refuge for various bird species. The environment invites contemplation and enjoyment of the tranquility offered by its proximity to the river.
