The Tristão da Silva Garden is integrated into the urban landscape of Picheleira, in Lisbon, specifically in the Olaias area. Bounded by residential buildings and accessible from Rua Aquiles Machado, this green space offers a peaceful break from the city's dynamism.
Once a parking area, this garden was transformed into a leisure space of approximately 2,500 square meters. It is characterized by its extensive lawns and the presence of leafy trees that provide inviting shade, especially in the higher areas, which are organized like a small terrace. Visitors can walk along a winding path through the garden, ascend and descend steps of Portuguese pavement, and find garden benches for moments of rest and contemplation.
The garden is named in homage to Manuel Augusto Martins Tristão da Silva, one of the most beloved and charismatic Portuguese fado singers. Born in Lisbon in 1927, Tristão da Silva left a remarkable legacy in Fado, remembered for his deep and distinctive voice and his romantic style. Among his most famous songs, "Nem às Paredes Confesso" stands out. The Lisbon City Council named this garden after him in 2004, perpetuating the memory of this artist in the city's toponymy.
