Parque Ribeirinho Oriente is situated in the Prata Riverside Village area, in Lisbon. This green space extends along the banks of the Tagus River, beginning near Doca do Poço do Bispo. Its position offers a direct perspective of the estuary, integrating it into the city's riverside front.

A New Urban Lung

Inaugurated as a redevelopment project, Parque Ribeirinho Oriente transformed a previously underutilized area into an extensive garden. The design, signed by landscape architects Catarina Assis Pacheco and Filipa Cardoso de Menezes, prioritized the creation of a natural environment with the planting of over 360 trees. The result is a space that invites tranquility and contact with nature, right in the heart of the city.

Paths and Scenic Elements

The park offers visitors two distinct paths to explore. One follows the waterline, providing continuous views of the river, ideal for contemplative walks. The second path meanders through the interior of the green area, allowing visitors to discover the diversity of the planted flora. Along the route, there are five solar sculptures, designed specifically for the location. These geometric forms not only enrich the landscape visually but also cast interesting shadows, serving as elements for observing solar movement.

Memory and Reuse

The park's design also incorporates elements that allude to the industrial and maritime history of the area. Old shipping containers have been intelligently converted and distributed throughout the space, serving as support structures and integrating into the park's aesthetic. This material reuse creates a bridge between the site's past and its new vocation as an area for leisure and contemplation, offering an example of architecture that respects the place's identity.
