Parque das Perdizes is located in the municipality of Oeiras, integrated into the Nova Morada urbanisation. This remarkable green space functions as a fundamental connecting corridor, extending from the Porto Salvo stream valley to Parque dos Poetas. Its strategic location allows for pedestrian paths that conveniently connect residential and service areas to commercial and leisure areas.

Internally, the park is divided into two distinct but harmoniously complementary areas: the Plateau zone, situated between the Nova Morada urbanisation and Oeiras Parque, and the Slope zone, which transitions from the Plateau to Praça das Cidades.

Origin of the Name

This natural space owes its name to an unusual and captivating detail: it is the persistent home of a flock of partridges. This unusual presence of wild birds, which remain in their natural habitat even in an urban environment, gives the park a unique identity and a touch of authenticity, inviting careful observation of wildlife.

Design and Purpose

Spanning approximately 4 hectares, Parque das Perdizes was conceived with inspiration from the forms and aesthetics of Oeiras' natural landscape. The design and terrain modelling aimed to create a balanced environment with nooks that provide some privacy, while ensuring good integration with the urban surroundings. Despite playing a crucial role in daily pedestrian mobility, its vast area also invites leisure activities, whether for a relaxing stroll or for moments of active recreation.

Nature and Sustainability

Parque das Perdizes stands out for its principles of sustainability and its appreciation of biodiversity. The space is distinguished by the coexistence of two types of meadows: irrigated areas, which are more open and ideal for public enjoyment; and rainfed areas, which are wooded and essential for supporting wildlife, providing shade, and creating landscape framing. These latter areas serve as refuges and habitats for various bird species, including partridges. The park is an example of the integration of natural cycles into the daily life of the city, offering visitors a unique opportunity for contact with the natural environment.
