Parque 2 de Abril is located in Massamá, part of the Sintra municipality. It is situated within the urban area of Quinta de Santo António da Barôta, specifically on Rua dos Jasmins. Its position, adjacent to a secondary school, contributes to an environment that is often lively and welcoming to both young people and families from the surrounding community.
The history of Parque 2 de Abril began in 1975, when its construction was carried out by the Massamá Residents' Commission. Although it has existed since that date, the park experienced a period of degradation of its infrastructures. However, in 2004, the space underwent a significant redevelopment promoted by the Sintra Municipal Council, allowing its reopening to the public with all the necessary conditions for enjoyment.
This park offers various areas designed for leisure and outdoor sports. For those seeking a place to relax or socialize, there is an area with tables and benches, ideal for a picnic or to enjoy the tranquility. Younger visitors have an equipped playground, designed for their games. Additionally, the park provides an area dedicated to physical activity, which includes a fenced football pitch and a basketball court. It is worth noting that the implementation of the basketball court originated from a proposal submitted and realized within the framework of the Parish's II Participatory Budget, in 2005.
