Located in São Domingos de Benfica, Lisbon, the palace is near the Monsanto Forest Park. Despite the tall buildings in the surroundings, it maintains a tranquil environment.
Built between 1671 and 1672, the palace was initially a hunting pavilion for João Mascarenhas, 1st Marquis of Fronteira. Since 1982, it has been classified as a National Monument.
, Hall of Battles: Stands out for its panels illustrating scenes from the Restoration War and a scene of D. João de Mascarenhas fighting against a Spanish general.
, Dining Room: Decorated with Dutch tiles and portraits of Portuguese nobility.
, Juno Room (or Empire Room): Features frescoes and portraits of the nobility, with works by artists such as Domingos António de Sequeira.
, Chapel: The facade is decorated with stones, shells, and fragments of porcelain. On the terrace, there are tiled niches with mythological figures and representations of the arts.
The gardens feature tile panels depicting the customs of the seasons. A large tank reflects the tiles that display knights of the family. The staircase next to the tank leads to a gallery with busts of Portuguese kings, except for the Philippine Dynasty Kings.
, Interior of the Palace: Visits are guided. From June to September, there are visits at 10:30 am, 11:00 am, 11:30 am, and 12:00 pm. From October to May, visits are at 11:00 am and 12:00 pm.
, Gardens: Available for visits from Monday to Friday, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. On Saturdays, from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
