History and Architecture

This palace, with its origins dating back to the 18th century, constitutes a notable example of a noble residence in Lisbon. The building underwent a significant restoration in the 20th century, under the project of architect Tertuliano de Lacerda Marques. This intervention was widely praised by critics of the time, who considered it a striking example of Portuguese traditionalist architecture. The recognition of the quality of the work earned it the prestigious Valmor Prize of 1921, one of the most important architectural accolades in Lisbon. For a period in its history, the palace was owned by João Ulrich, enriching its trajectory.

Contemporary Use

Currently, the Cova da Moura Palace performs a relevant public function, housing services of a political and administrative nature. In this way, the building remains actively linked to the institutional daily life of the nation, perpetuating its history and importance beyond its intrinsic architectural and heritage value.
