Located in Pelourinho Square, in one of the oldest historical buildings in Mafra.
Built in the late 16th century by D. João Luís de Menezes, it served as the Town Hall until the 19th century, when it became a district prison, a function it performed until 1972.
The museum's purpose is to preserve the ethnography and history of the region.
Highlights include a valuable collection of traditional Mafra ceramics, including utilitarian pieces and figurative ceramics.
In addition to ceramics, the museum houses collections of traditional costumes, devotional objects, numismatics, and much more.
