Located in Vila Franca de Xira, it is a space dedicated to the history and memory of the neo-realist movement in Portugal.
Created in 1990, based on the work developed by its Documentation Center.
It brings together a vast collection of donated items, including manuscripts, works of art, magazines and historical documents related to the neo-realist movement.
It highlights writers such as Alves Redol, Orlando da Costa and Soeiro Pereira Gomes, as well as artists such as José Dias Coelho and Rui Filipe.
In 2007, a new space was inaugurated, designed by the architect Alcino Soutinho, offering better conditions for exhibitions and cultural activities.
It has ample areas for temporary exhibitions, a specialized library, an auditorium with a capacity for around 100 people, an audiovisual room, a bookstore and a cafeteria.
It organizes exhibitions, debates and events about the neo-realist movement and its impact on Portuguese culture.
