The Church of Santa Catarina, also known as the Church of the Paulistas or the Church of São Paulo da Serra de Ossa, is located on Calçada do Combro, in the parish of Misericórdia, in Lisbon.
The building was erected in the 17th century and is an example of the religious architecture of that time.
Much of the church was destroyed in the 1755 earthquake, followed by a fire. The reconstruction was completed in 1763, preserving the original style.
In 1835, the church was designated as a parish church, coming under the protection of Saint Catherine.
The organ, dating from the early 18th century and which survived the earthquake, was restored in 2018, being one of the main attractions of the place.
Since 1918, the Church of Santa Catarina has been classified as a National Monument, recognizing its historical and cultural importance.
This church is an essential place to visit for those who appreciate history, religious architecture, and sacred music, thanks to its unique organ.
