The Church of Nossa Senhora de Jesus, also known as the Parish Church of Mercês, is located in Largo de Jesus, in the parish of Misericórdia, in Lisbon.
The current church was built in the 18th century, on the site of the old church that was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake.
After the end of religious orders in Portugal in 1834, the church was converted into the parish church of the Mercês parish, a function it maintains to this day.
It is situated in a historical complex that includes the old Convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus, the Academy of Sciences, the Passos Manuel Secondary School, the Hospital de Jesus and the Mendia Palace.
Since 2010, the church has been part of a Public Interest Ensemble that includes the Convent of Nossa Senhora de Jesus, remains of the convent wall, the Academy of Sciences, the Geological Museum, the Chapel of the Third Order of Our Lord Jesus and the Hospital de Jesus.
