Located in Milharado, in the municipality of Mafra.
The church dates back to the 16th century and features elements of the Manueline style, which marked an important phase of renovation of religious temples in Portugal.
The main highlight is the Manueline portal with two archivolts and a frame rich in details, such as garlands and figures of angels. It also preserves a holy water font with busts of angels and a corbel with a human bust.
The church was significantly reformed in the early 17th century. The interior is notable for its baroque altarpieces and marble pulpit. The single nave is decorated with tiles and perfect arches.
Located outside, on a square base with three steps, it is an important 17th-century piece, with a simple and elegant cross.
Over the centuries, the church underwent minor renovations and additions, including covering the walls with tiles in 1748 and rebuilding a support house for pilgrims after the 1755 earthquake.
In 1960, the church was completely restored, maintaining and highlighting the artistic evolution of the region's religious buildings.
The Church of São Miguel is a significant example of the transformation of rural temples into important parishes, reflecting the artistic and architectural evolution of the 17th and 18th centuries.
