- Situated in an elevated position above Paimogo Beach, it offers one of the best sea views on the Portuguese coast.
- Built in 1674 during the Portuguese Restoration War to protect the coast and the entrance to the Tagus River.
- It was part of a coastal defense line that ran from Peniche to Cascais.
- After the Portuguese Civil War, it lost its military value.
- Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1957.
- Despite several attempts at recovery, the fort is currently in a state of abandonment, risking degradation.
- Small maritime fort with a quadrangular plan.
- Cylindrical guardhouses in the corners and a battery facing the sea.
- There were plans to restore the fort and integrate it into a cultural route linked to dinosaurs, which are very common in Lourinhã, but these plans have not yet moved forward.
