Inaugurated on July 31, 1884, this work of art is a historical landmark of the garden, designed to honor the figure of the Marquis. The main statue, by the Italian sculptor Giovanni Ciniselli and with an architectural design by Germano José Sales, depicts Sá da Bandeira standing, holding a banner.

The base of the monument is adorned with various bronze figures that add symbolic depth. Two lion figures and a female representation of History on the back are notable. In the front section, a female figure with a child in her arms alludes to enslaved Africans, giving the work a significant social and historical meaning.

With an area of approximately four thousand square meters, Jardim Sá da Bandeira occupies the space of a city block, offering a considerable area for leisure and rest. The garden has undergone a recent redevelopment that has given it a more contemporary and welcoming aesthetic, making it visually appealing.

This intervention has brought a vibrant color palette to the space: the flooring in toasted yellow tones and the presence of bright red elements create a harmonious contrast with the natural green of the trees and flowerbeds. Large palm trees and other robust, tall trees punctuate the landscape, contributing to its natural beauty and the feeling of an urban oasis.
