The Visconde da Luz Garden is located in the center of Cascais village, in the area known as Visconde da Luz. It is a green space situated on Avenida dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra, a central area of the town. Its position in the heart of Cascais makes it easily accessible, a natural pause point in the urban dynamic.
This garden owes its name to Joaquim António Velez Barreiros, also known as Visconde de Nossa Senhora da Luz, a figure who donated the land to the village of Cascais. Inside the garden, there is a monument dedicated to Portuguese Combatants Who Died for the Homeland, a central element that gives the place a character of homage and memory.
The garden presents an inviting atmosphere, marked by the presence of various tree species. Orange trees, casuarinas, jacarandas, and weeping willows contribute to its beauty and the shade provided on warm days. The abundant flora offers vibrant natural colors, creating a pleasant and tranquil setting in the midst of the urban area.
The Visconde da Luz Garden is recognized as a place for socializing and relaxation. It is common to observe both residents and visitors enjoying the atmosphere, conversing, and taking advantage of the calm the space offers, especially in the late afternoon. For the younger ones, there is a carousel, which complements the welcoming character of the garden.
