The Jardim dos Jacarandás is situated in the heart of Parque das Nações, a contemporary and revitalized area of Lisbon. It is integrated into the urban fabric, bordered by modern residential buildings that emerged during the preparation for Expo ’98. Its position, between Alameda dos Oceanos and Rua de Moscavide, places it in a dynamic urban environment, while simultaneously offering a refuge of serenity.
This green space, approximately 2,500 square meters, was conceived as an area for leisure and urban beautification. One of its most distinctive features is the prevalence of Portuguese pavement, which forms wavy designs, adding an artistic and traditional touch to its modern surroundings. In the center of the garden, a large circular flowerbed stands out, outlined by boxwood, with two entrances inviting exploration of its interior. There is also a yellow wall, with benches facing each other, separating it from Alameda dos Oceanos, creating nooks for a quiet break.
The garden's name celebrates one of Lisbon's most emblematic trees: the Jacaranda mimosifolia. These jacarandas are the soul of this place, particularly noticeable during the months of May and June. At that time, their canopies transform into a spectacle of vibrant blue-lilac flowers, painting the landscape and catching the eye of passersby. It serves as a reminder of how exotic nature, originating from South America, has adapted and flourished in the Portuguese capital, contributing to its botanical identity and scenic beauty.
